India’s Chandrayaan-3 to Target Shiv Shakti Landing Site on the Moon

The Indian Space Research Organisation achieved a historic milestone as the Vikram Lander successfully touched down on the Moon during the Chandrayaan 3 mission. Additionally, the Pragyan Rover emerged from the lander and explored the lunar surface for a remarkable 14 days, providing astonishing and unimaginable discoveries that can now be further examined by space scientists. Prime Minister Narendra Modi acknowledged the significance of the Shiv Shakti point on the Moon, which was named by India, in light of this remarkable feat accomplished by Indian scientists.

Narendra Modi at Chandrayaan-3 Shiv Shakti Point

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, just before a special session of Parliament, started talking about the Shiv Shakti point on the Moon, where ISRO landed the Vikram lander safely. He said, “Moon Mission success — Chandrayaan-3 has lifted our Tiranga, Shiv Shakti Point has become a new center of inspiration, Tiranga Point fills us with pride.”

The Chandrayaan-3 mission not only placed our country’s flag on the Moon but also demonstrated India’s strength in science and technology. Currently the Vikram lander and the Pragyan rover are in idle mode as the lunar night is underway. However, scientists believe that the mission can start on September 22 if ISRO manages to wake them up.

Chandrayaan-3 mission has already exceeded its expected goals and if the mission continues further, it will be another great achievement for India as well as ISRO scientists.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi added: “Around the world, when such an achievement is made, it is viewed by linking it with modernity, science and technology. When this talent comes before the world, several opportunities will knock on India’s doors.”

Findings of the Chandrayaan-3 mission

During the 14-day course, the lander and rover made significant discoveries that amazed scientists. According to ISRO, the Vikram lander was able to measure the temperature of the Moon’s surface, which was as high as 60-70 degrees. This was unexpected as it was about 30 degrees higher than what scientists expected. Below the surface, the temperature dropped to -10 degrees. The mission also detected the presence of sulfur among other elements. The Vikram lander recorded seismic activity on the Moon, which came as a surprise to many. In addition, ISRO also conducted a jump test where the lander rose 40 cm above the lunar surface and landed again.
